Black Sea Jazz Festival 2026
On July 10-12, Batumi will host the 19th Black Sea Jazz Festival.
2026 is a special year for the Black Sea Jazz Festival. This year, the global music community celebrates the centennial of Miles Davis, one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz and a global legend. Accordingly, this year's Black Sea Jazz Festival will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis. To honor his legacy, the festival will be opened by Miles Davis's family member, producer, and drummer Vince Wilburn Jr. with his band, M.E.B. "Miles Electric Band."
Festival Program
July 10 “THE MILES DAVIS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION WITH THE MILES ELECTRIC BAND”
M.E.B. "Miles Electric Band" is a project dedicated to the electric period and musical legacy of the legendary jazz musician Miles Davis.
The lineup of the Miles Electric Band brings together musicians who either played with Miles Davis themselves or were influenced by his music. Among them are world-renowned artists such as Darryl Jones (bassist for The Rolling Stones). The band's latest album, That You Not Dare To Forget (produced by Lenny White and Vince Wilburn Jr.), features brand-new, previously unreleased studio recordings alongside the "voice" of Miles himself. Two out of the five tracks feature hitherto unreleased trumpet parts by Miles Davis. The album features legendary musicians including Ron Carter, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Donald Harrison, Darryl Jones, Vernon Reid, and John Scofield. The album is dedicated to the memory of Wallace Roney and Bernard Wright, featuring some of their final recordings.
July 11 ERIC BENÉ
Eric Benét is an American R&B superstar known for his soulful, emotional vocals and modern interpretation of classic soul. He is recognized as an artist who gave 90s and 2000s R&B a "cleaner" and more emotional sound, with fewer commercial effects and more genuine soul. His music blends elements of R&B, neo-soul, jazz, and gospel. He is frequently compared to classic soul artists like Stevie Wonder.
July 12 GHOST-NOTE
The band is particularly famous for its performance style, with their live shows often turning into authentic funk jam sessions. Ghost-Note blends funk, jazz-funk, afrobeat, and hip-hop.
Following the release of their critically acclaimed April 2024 album, Mustard n’Onions, Ghost-Note continues their world tour. Led by drummer Robert Sput Searight, the band features musicians who have worked with legendary giants such as Prince, Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, Snarky Puppy, Marcus Miller, Kirk Franklin, and others.
July 10-12 Every evening at the festival club "Take5," the after-parties will be hosted by 11-time Grammy Award winner PHILIP LASSITER and his band.
Rooted in Texas funk, Alabama gospel, New Orleans jazz, and Nashville soul, Philip Lassiter is a brass and string arranger, as well as the former section leader and arranger for Prince and The New Power Generation. It was this collaboration that brought him international acclaim.
