Sudanese DJ, singer, producer and philanthropist EMMANUEL JAL will perform on the G17 stage; along with local artists — VAKO BLIX | SALLY SI.

Emmanuel Jal’s musical and philanthropic work has positively transformed the lives of millions of Sudanese. With a 20-year career, he has established himself as a unique hip-hop and afro-tech artist whose work, including the book — My Life is Art and the memoir — Warchild, is imbued with the idea of peace.

He currently works in Kenya (Nairobi) and Canada (Toronto).

The artist has gained worldwide recognition for his distinctive, South Sudanese sound and collaborations — Gorah (with Nitefreak) released on Diplo’s Higher Ground label, the iconic Kuar (with Henrik Schwarz and FNX Omar), Chagu (with Moblack and Henrik Schwarz), Hey Mama (with Da Capo and FNX Omar), Birds (with Folamour), Chaak (with Bun Xapa, who recently visited Batumi organized by G17 and Day ‘N Night Events), and many more.

He has been nominated twice for the Junos Awards in the “Best World Music Artist” category;

He has released 7 award-nominated, globally-rated studio albums, including Shangah (2022), Naath (2018), The Key (2014), See Me Mama (2012), Warchild (2008), Ceasefire (2005) and Gua (2005);

He has performed at major live music festivals such as Coachella and Ushuaia, Dubai (2025), Glastonbury Festival, Nelson Mandela's 90th Birthday Concert, Live 8 and One Concert for His Holiness the Dalai Lama;

His collaborations include many famous stars, such as Nelly Furtado, Nile Rodgers, Javier Rudd, Peter Gabriel and Daryl DMC McDaniels. He has performed live on stage with Lauren Hill, Joss Stone, Ed Sheeran and Alicia Keys.

The musician has also starred in the acclaimed film The Good Lie alongside Reese Witherspoon.

His charity foundation, Gua Africa, focuses on people affected by war and poverty in East Africa.
