Abstract:

Director Gaga Goshadze staged the renowned drama *The Diary of Anne Frank*—written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett—with students from the Batumi State University of Arts. The production proved so impressive and professionally polished that it secured a place in the repertoire of the Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze Drama Theatre. This is a multifaceted, valuable event—both for the professional theatre and, naturally, for the young actors involved.

War is an inexhaustible theme for literature, theatre, and indeed any branch of art—if only because the history of humanity itself is a history of wars. "The Diary of Anne Frank" conveys a harrowing, oppressive, and deeply moving tragedy as perceived by a teenager confined in a secret attic—a story in which an innocent, vibrant child becomes a victim of war...
