Director Giorgi Kashia is staging a classical work for the second time in a short period of time at the Batumi Drama Theater. The first performance is an adapted version of Davit Kldiashvili's "The Troubles of Darispan", the second is Nikolai Gogol's immortal "The Inspector General".

As is well known, Gogol learned the story and plot of the play from Pushkin. It is an extremely interesting phenomenon when two unique talents, two brilliant creators, are ignited by the same story.

As a result, we got what is probably both natural and logical; as a result, we got “The Auditor” – a dramatic masterpiece, a play that exposed the way of life of Russian society and touched on an eternal, universal theme in the finale. The real auditor, in the end, will inevitably come as a judgment, the unconditional judge of our existence, our being…
